The World’s greatest-ever playwright and poet is not officially recognised. There is no day commemorating the Bard of Avon.
Unfortunately, there is no Government department that deals with the registration of such days. With the public’s help this sorry state of affairs could be set to rights.

We have called on Her Majesty’s Government to institute a Shakespeare Day on 23 April 2016 and annually thereafter to celebrate Britain’s national Bard, William Shakespeare.
The site has two thresholds for action: At 10,000 signatures, the Government will consider the issue and publish a response which could be heard in our favour. At 100,000 signatures, the petition is eligible for debate in Parliament.
However, we have less than 8 months to achieve these!
